Hey Fanshawe Students… Want to Earn a Free Tuition Payment?
The Community Service Bursary is a financial needs based bursary designed to allow returning, full time post-secondary students, an opportunity to earn credit towards their next semesters’ tuition fees while performing volunteer service with registered, non-profit charitable organizations which includes Pets/Friends for Life.
Students will earn credit towards their tuition fees based upon the number of hours of community service performed. 126 to 249 hours of community service will buy you one semester standard tuition fees. Over 250 hours will buy two semesters’ standard tuition fees.
To be eligible for this bursary, you must meet the following criteria:
• Demonstrate financial need, as indicated by information provided by student in the completion of student work term budget
• A full-time post-secondary student returning to studies at Fanshawe College for the upcoming academic year
• Must have valid temporary or permanent SIN and eligible to work in Canada
All eligible volunteer service must be performed between the start and end of one work term (approximate period 4 months) and the Financial Aid Office (Rm E2020) must receive the completed application within the first 30 days of the start of your work term. Incomplete applications and applications completed in pencil will be denied.
Wondering how to apply? Here’s how:
1. Student must complete and return the application form on the last page of this brochure to Fanshawe College, Financial Aid Office Room E2020.
2. The application will be reviewed to ensure the applicant meets the eligibility criteria. A letter will be mailed to the student confirming and detailing the conditions of eligibility.
3. Student initiates contact with registered, non-profit charitable organization of his/her choice
4. Student must obtain a signed letter on the registered organization’s letterhead, providing a record of the total number of hours of service provided by the student during one work term, and the organization’s charitable number. This letter must be returned to the Financial Aid Office within 30 days of the completion of volunteer service.
